Op-ed on sacredness and converted churches by Daan Beekers and Birgit Meyer

Daan Beekers and Birgit Meyer published a short version of their talk in a public lecture series on the sacred as an op-ed in Het Nederlands Dagblad, a Dutch newspaper. They argue that converted church buildings in the Netherlands offer a sharp lens on new forms of sacredness.  They specifically discuss the use and conceptualization of sacred space by the new religious communities that re-use church buildings (as in the case of the Fatih mosque in Amsterdam) and the heritagization of abandoned church buildings.
